Where to eat in Lampedusa

Just-caught fish, flavours between Sicily and North Africa and a few historic spots: eating well in Lampedusa is easy. Here's what to look for.

What to eat

Super-fresh fish

Amberjack, tuna, red prawns and the catch of the day: raw, grilled or in pasta. Always ask for the local catch.

Sicilian-Mediterranean cuisine

Fish couscous, pasta with sardines, caponata: the island's cooking blends Sicilian tradition with North-African influences.

Street food

Pane cunzato, arancine and fish sandwiches for a quick lunch between one beach and the next.

Sweets and granita

Cannoli, cassata and granita with brioche: the classic Sicilian breakfast, perfect in summer.

Tip

In high season the places in the centre and by the harbour fill up in the evening: book ahead, especially for dinner. Fresh-fish prices vary, asking first is normal.
