When to go to Lampedusa

Lampedusa is a seaside island: the season runs from May to October. The right time depends on what you want between weather, prices and crowds.

Climate and sea

The climate is Mediterranean, mild and dry. Summers are hot but breezy; the sea is swimmable from late May to October, with the warmest water between July and September.

High and low season

July and August are the peak: warm sea, everything open, but also more people and high prices on flights and lodging. June and September are a good compromise: warm water, fewer crowds and better rates.

The best time

For beaches and swimming with more quiet, aim for June or September. May and October are ideal for walking and exploring, but with some cooler or windier days and some services still limited.

Note

Off-season (winter) many hotels, restaurants and connections reduce or suspend service: the island lives mostly in summer.
