How to get to Lampedusa
Lampedusa is reached by plane (LMP airport) or by ferry from Porto Empedocle. In summer there are direct flights from several Italian cities.
By plane
Lampedusa airport (code LMP) is connected year-round with Palermo and Catania. In high season seasonal direct flights operate from Rome, Milan, Bologna and other airports. The flight from Sicily takes about 45 minutes.
By ferry
The ferry departs from Porto Empedocle (Agrigento) and takes about 8-9 hours, often overnight. It is the cheapest option and lets you bring a car, but it depends heavily on the weather.
Tip
You don't need a car on the island: many people get around by scooter or bike and reach the main beaches on foot or by sea. Book flights and accommodation well in advance for July and August.
